Growing your business to 6 figures is NOT solely down to you

Do you dream of a 6 figure business?

I think we can sometimes get bogged down with the ins and outs of running a business.  It happens.  It’s not unusual.  I think once we recognise that we don’t have to (and sometimes just can’t) do it all ourselves, that’s when things actually become easier, and things happen quicker.

I received this testimonial a couple of weeks ago from a client.

“Sam has been my right-hand woman on and off since 2012. She understands the vision I’m trying to create and takes care of what needs to happen from an operational perspective to take my ideas forwards. She is speedy, efficient and proactive – totally gets the online space and the creation of systems and processes to keep my customers happy. She has helped me grow two businesses to six figures – I couldn’t have done it without her. Highly recommended – obviously!”

Now this isn’t just about me.  I have a team here at BaB that work on a number of accounts with me.

It just reminded me that getting to those 6 figures takes a whole heap of people working together, and that I had definitely made the right decision in expanding my own team!

This is why I invested in my own VA. I clearly know the benefits of having a Virtual Assistant on the team, and as I got busier and busier, and as my online content started to grow, I realised that all those things I had told my clients, about only doing the stuff you can do in your business and outsourcing the rest was fast becoming something that I needed to do and walk the walk, not just talk the talk.

It has allowed me to work on my business, rather than just in my business.

Now I’m actually not going to flog you VA services.  While we do help busy business owners, what I actually wanted to say was:

Make your journey as simple as you can.

I’ve put in the late nights, the long hours and grown my business.  I’ve slogged away learning the latest software to be able to implement it with clients.  Struggled at max capacity before I had a team.

You don’t have to do that.  Many will say it makes you more resilient.  I say if there’s a simpler route to get you to the exact same spot, take the simple route!

And that does sometimes mean spending money to make money (and again, I’m not flogging you anything here).

So while I write the copy for the blogs and emails, I no longer upload them and schedule them.

While I do keep a very close eye on my accounts (I was burned not so long ago by my ex book-keeper which has left me with some trust issues – but that’s another story!) I no longer match up my receipts with my transaction, that’s done by the team and I’m just told which ones are missing and I send them over.

I used to think I had to upload all my content into my online portal because it was my vision and it would take just as long to show someone else so I might as well do it myself.  When in fact, once shown, it’s so much easier to just be creating the content, then hand it over!

So have a think about all those things you don’t need to be doing, and if you had all the time back, what could you do with it instead?

Content plan?

Strategise?

Take on another client?

Get your marketing ideas out of your head and into some sort of organised structure (to then hand over to your VA to implement, of course!)?

Whatever it is – have a real think about all the things that are potentially exhausting you, and will eventually run you (and your health) into the ground.

Now I get that some people might not be in a financial position to get a VA, or as a VA yourself you might think it’s odd to have your own VA (and btw it’s not odd at all – just making the best use of your time – gotta practice what you preach!), so what I want you to do is just say it out loud.

Post it in a community you’re a member of.

Tell your partner or business buddy.

“I’m going to get myself a VA in the next 3 months”.

Throw it out there into the world, and see what comes back 🙂

You might be pleasantly surprised at what shows up.
